The 8 Parts of Speech

  Noun: name of a person, place or thing; e.g., Randolph,      
  chair, desk, Caecilius, vīlla, tablinum.      
         
  Adjective: describes a noun; e.g., red, bright, laetus.      
         
  Adverb: modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb,      
  e.g., quickly, first, celeriter.      
         
  Verb: expresses action, e.g,. jump, think, amat, or being,      
  e.g., is, became, est.      
         
  Pronoun: replaces a noun, e.g., me, him, it.      
         
  Conjunction: a word which connects two clauses, e.g., and,      
  but, so, that, though, et, sed.      
         
  Preposition: a word that connects a noun to the rest of the      
  sentence, e.g., towards, from, since, ad.      
         
  Interjection: a word of surpise or emotion, e.g., Oh!,      
  Wow!eheu!
