Opening Ceremonies

 

The all-school assembly was opened by Vicky Everett '05, who sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the theme song of Diversity Day 2000. The Peterson family donated a painting depicting the landmark civil rights contests of the late 1950s. Middle and upper schools watched the dances of Henry Smith while lower schoolers enjoyed the Prince Hall Drummers.

Lower School Bread Project

Children learned about diversity by reading about and baking the breads of many cultures.

Closing Ceremonies

A musical celebration of diversity, highlighted by performances by lower school students, faculty members, and a solo by Keisha Hutchins '93. The ceremony closed with the entire school singing "Lift Every Voice and Sing."

Germantown Community Choir Sing

Seven Germantown churches, along with Germantown High School, joined the GFS Choir for this spiritual event.
