What is Promethium?

Atomic Number- 61

Symbol- Pm

It is radioactive- Meaning that it decays, and that decay is radioactivity.

Its longest possible half-life is 17.7 years- a half-life is after a certain amount of time when its mass is half its original.

Where is it- It’s found in stars in Andromeda

Atomic Mass- 145

Family- lanthanide

Promethium is currently not in earth’s core and can only be created my altering neodymium. It is found in different stars that are in Andromeda.

This is the atomic structure of Promethium-145: 61 electrons orbiting the nucleus. There are 61 protons and 84 neutrons in the nucleus

It's Elementary
The existence of promethium was thought of in 1902 by a man named Bohuslav Brauner. He thought there was an element between neodymium and samarium. In 1945 Jacob A. Marinsky, Lawrence E. Glendenin and Charles D. Coryell proved an element with an atomic number of 61 did exist and they named it after the greek god Promethius; that is why it is called promethium.
