History:

The element Zirconium was found in 1789 by Martin Heinrich Klaproth, a German chemist. Originally, he was analyzing the mineral jargon. It was isolated by Jöns Jacob Berzelius in 1824, when he had heated a mixture of potassium and potassium zirconium fluoride. By the year 1914, it was in a purified form. The word "Zirconium is from the Persian word 'zarkun', which means gold-like.
