These color wheels begin as a simple color mixing exercise: students use red, blue and yellow paint to create secondary and tertiary colors. After painting these colors on 4X6 " cards, students then design a "letter" template which is placed on each swatch, traced and cut-out. Some students base their layout on a simple color wheel while others as seen above venture into more creative and less conventional layouts. Underlying this project is the essential aquisition of knowledge regarding primary, secondary, tertiary and complementary colors.
